  • Having lunch on the steps of the door of the church of Frasseto The village itself feels empty, it is as if nobody lives here. That's not true however, it's just that a lot of people are off to work or remain indoors. When you get to the church, you'll notice the steps near the main door, giving you a nice place to sit, eat and admire the view.

The view when approaching Quasquara To continue the walk, you'll have to follow the road down towards a little river that is locally know as Chiova. About 50 meters after you've crossed that river, there is a very small and step little path on the right hand side. You go up and then through a forest with huge chestnut trees. After you've seen a small cemetery, you'll have your first view of the village of Quasquara. The building on the left on this photo is the gite. From there, it's only about 10 minutes.

The gite in Quasquara, at the end of the fifth stage Having reached Quasquara, there are signs that tell you how to find the gite. It is actually a restaurant but the owner has created some rooms downstairs, plus showers and a kitchen.

You'll have diner in the restaurant. The owner of the gite, monsieur Yvars, is a good cook, but he doesn't seem to like talking too much.

In 2003, when we stayed in Quasquara, we paid € 32 per person, which included diner and breakfast. We also had to pay € 11 per person for a lunch pack, a bit expensive as it turned out when we saw it the next day. You haven't really got an alternative though, since there are no shops in Quasquara.
